Good location to live between San Diego and Oceanside within a reasonable price range?
If my husband will be working on Camp Pendleton, and I will be going to school in San Diego, where would be a good location for us to live to meet in the middle? My husband will only be working on Pendleton for the year, then he too will attend college. We are ready to buy a home, anyone suggestions on locations? Thank you.
It really depends on what you are looking for. There are lots of really cool small little towns that dot the coast in north county. Most of them are fairly expensive since they are close to the coast but you can save a little bit of $$ by looking further inland. One of my favorites is Cardiff by the Sea, which is a just north of Solana Beach, which is also a pretty nice place but tends to skew older demographically. Cardiff is very small but offers a very laid back beach community vibe. You can also consider Encinitas which is north of that and would probably be a cheaper version of CBS with a little more to do. If you go south of Solana, you are getting into Del Mar, La Jolla, and Carmel Mountain which are all super expensive. However if you head east at the 805/5 split you get to Mira Mesa, Sorrento, Clairmont, and Kearny Mesa which are all very centrally located and close to the freeways. The cost of living is also a lot more reasonable in those areas.
Good luck.
