If you don't mind a lengthy drive, try La Paloma in Vista (Escondido Ave, near Vista Way). Gourmet Mexican featuring pheasant, antelope, duck & quail. They have standard fare also, but I stick to the gourmet menu. Nothing over $20. Huge portions; we've been a dozen times and never made it to the dessert menu yet...
References :
Just about anything in Old Town is going to be great! It will give you the best variety in a generally close area. A little out of the way is Porky Land. There's one in Barrio Logan and another in La Jolla. A great overall place is Tio Carlos in Point Loma off of Rosecrans. The crab stuffed shrimp are to die for. Good luck and enjoy!
