(Even with no traffic, you're looking at 45 minute drive.) It if right off the 78 with a large sandy beach and plenty of parking. La Jolla is cool but parking is a big problem and you may need to have valet parking at La Jolla cove. But I think the foliage/plants tend to look best in mid spring when everything is blooming. By the summer and fall, it's too late.
