My family is planning to visit Southern California over spring break, We are purchasing city passes to go visit Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure,Sea World, The San Diego Zoo and Universal Studios…Anyone have any thing they can suggest to save some money or tips on things we MUST do or DON’T do???

Definately go with the City Pass which will save you money. If you will be staying in Anaheim at a hotel, purchase Anaheim Resort Transit tickets online before you go for the number of days you will be there. For around $4 a day (less if you will be in Anaheim multiple days) you can ride back and forth from Disneyland to the hotel on a special bus that runs every 15 minutes. Almost every hotel near Disneyland is on the route, and you won’t have to pay the huge parking fee at Disneyland ($14 a day). To buy tickets for Anaheim Resort Transit visit: http://www.rideart.org/index.php?loc=1

At Disneyland, the rides you "must hit" should include: Matterhorn, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean. If you can avoid it, skip Dumbo as you usually waste a lot of time in line. Hit Fantasyland first thing in the morning before the crowds pick up for the day, and then head over to Disney’s California Adventure when the crowds die down. If you are into junk food, Disneyland has the best corn dogs on Main Street U.S.A. at the corn dog cart near the end of Main Street. Other not to miss cuisine choices include the chicken tenders from The Stage Door Cafe and the Bengal Barbeque stick meat. Skip the funnel cake which tastes nothing like it does at the fair, and skip the Mickey shaped ice cream bars and go to the old fashioned ice cream parlor on Main Street USA for a real ice cream treat. When you ride Autotopia, ask for a driver’s license (they only give them out when you ask now), it makes a great souvenier. If you plan to buy Disney pins and wear a lanyard, buy your lanyard on E-bay before heading to Disneyland to save a lot of money. For inexpensive souveniers, try pressed pennies, there is a great selection of them as well as pressed quarters at the Penny Arcade on Main Street U.S.A. A great free souvenier is the photograph that you can e-mail yourself if you ride Buzz Lightyears Astro Blasters. Also, they have ride photographs on Splash Mountain and Space Mountain that you can purchase or take a photograph of while it’s on the screen for a great souvenier.

At Disney’s California Adventure, you will want to hit Maliboomer, California Screamin’, Soarin’ Over California, Grizzly River Run,and Twilight Zone’s Tower Of Terror. Twilight Zone’s Tower Of Terror is the thrill of a lifetime, and you need to force yourself to go on it, even if you are not a thrill seeker, as you will feel a sense of accomplishment once you complete it. For a fun, unique souvenier, buy the "I Survived The Tower Of Terror" lanyards with your first name on them in the gift shop when you get off of the Tower Of Terror. They also take a ride photo which you can purchase or you can photograph while it’s on the screen.

At Sea World, the dolphin show is currently closed due to the new show opening in May 2010, so the dolphins can be seen over at Shamu stadium, as can the pilot whales. Some things not to miss at Sea World: go to Rocky Point Preserve during a feeding time when you can feed (for a price of $4-$6 a tray) and pet bottlenose dolphins; hit Forbidden Reef to pet batrays (a.k.a. stingrays) with the stingers removed which you can also feed (for a fee) throughout the day, but it’s possible to pet them without feeding them. Make sure you go on Journey To Atlantis (you will get wet), Shipwreck Rapids (you will get wet), and Wild Arctic. In terms of shows, Shamu is the "tamest" show fascinating if you’ve never seen it before, but rather slow moving. Pets Rules is hilarious if you are an animal lover (cats and dogs), but the best show is definately the Sea Lion and Otter Show. Don’t miss the penguin encounter and make sure you don’t do Wild Arctic and the penguin encounter when you are dripping wet, or you will regret it its so cold. Must have cuisine at Sea World is a meal at the Shipwreck Cafe (the salmon, burgers, and ribs are fantastic), ice cream near the exit at the ice cream parlor, churros (are fabulous), and frosted lemonade (a great treat on a hot day).

San Diego Zoo things not to miss are the giant pandas, the koala exhibit, elephant odyssey, polar bear plunge, the swamp monkeys (the cutest exhibit of all), the childrens zoo (doubles as a petting zoo), and the sea lion show. In terms of cuisine, it’s all mediocre but they make a good bacon cheeseburger and have great chili fries, if you can stomach them.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any Universal Tips, as I don’t go there.

Doing a Research report. Thanks for the help. Please provide a website that the information was from so I can make a bibliography

Here’s a silly idea. Why not try the San Diego Zoo website.
