My cousin is getting married next year at the Bahia Resort so I need something close to that if possible. My boyfriend & I are going to make a week vacation out of it. I need some suggestions. I'm willing to spend around $250/night at the most.

Hi,
I live in San Diego and had my reception at the Bahia. The first link shows you how the Bahia is located on kind of a peninsula on the bay. DO NOT stay in Coronado - that's way to far away. There are MANY hotels around the Bahia. The second link shows some of them. The Catamaran and the Hyatt are nice.

The Bahia is near Sea World (between Sea World and Mission Beach), so if you are looking for hotels on Travelocity or something, look at the distance to Sea World.

I could keep going with links forever, but I'm sure you'll be able to get some good ideas from these sites. All of the hotels on the second site are nice and you can look at pictures. I put a map for the very last link because it is kind of a confusing part of town.

Congratulations to your cousin and I hope you have a wonderful trip!

You could go to a Boomers. There is one in El Cajon and it's fun. There is also a place called Sun Valley in La Mesa. It is more like a small golf course, but it is also alot of fun.

i believe traffic will be terrible. we live in orange county and it takes about 2 hours to get to san diego with no traffic. with traffic it could double or triple the time just because there will be so many people on the 5 freeway. i am right, right?

I would go on Saturday. Friday will be terrible but Saturday should be pretty good - most people will be at their destinations kicking it and not driving! That would be a good compromise and you still keep her happy and you know how important it is to keep Mama happy!

My former fave, Spicy City on Convoy in Kearny Mesa, has new ownership, and a terrible new menu. I had eaten there dozens of times before they sold. Where can I get good Gan Bian Chicken and not Americanized Chinese food in the County? Jasmine and Emerald are more dim sum. What else do you like?

Try Ba Ren on Diane St. in Claremont off of Claremont Mesa Blvd.

I've not yet had occasion to go…but I've heard its the best Sechuan in San Diego.

They don't pull punches. They make things Chinese Hot…and they use Sechuan pepper with the mouth numbing quality.
