Convention center is in downtown San Diego

You can actually do a city-wide quote, and sort the results by distance from the convention center.

Head over to http://www.resideo.com/us/california/sandiego/ and click the 'enter your travel dates' link. Choose your dates, submit the form. When the results appear, select the convention center from the points-of-interest dropdown.

You can then check out each hotel, view pics & book online.

Closest available for your dates is a Marriott: http://www.resideo.com/us/california/sandiego/73897055.hotel

The cheapest/closest is a Comfort Inn:

Hope that helps!

I want to get into this industry but I am clueless when it comes to obtaining the required information I need to get started.

Whoa…. good luck…
This is a job that you either are lucky to get due to a family member or just plain good timing.
I would start down at the docks doing anything they want and working yourself up to this.
We use to tie up our company tugs ourselves in Hawaii and the longshoremen came down heavy on us. We were non union .. We eventually let them do it… Why? They would put their babies on the tires of the docks so we couldn't tie up or they would hinder us in other ways.
Start with getting in the union.. Then take it from there.
Someday if you are lucky and are well liked or do great work you may get a job with them..

Im going to mission beach and i really need a lot of answers, im open to anything.

Certain fish like certain baits
mussels and clams will get a bite from perch, corbina, croakers sharks and rays as will anchovies except corbina really feed on the sand crabs. halibut will take them as well as anchovies smelt sardines and grunion sand bass spotted bay bass and sculpin will too. Banjo sharks (guitar fish) love sardines as well as bat rays, and squid is a good chum
halibut will be in the shade under the pier outside the current and the breaking waves' violent water. if there are no waves I have caught them in 10" of water. I find them at dawn where ever the sea ducks are feeding off the pilings eating the mussels.
I use 3/4 oz lead for every foot of wave face.
I use green trilene (the water is green and it disappears best in so cal)
most of the fish are all under the pier, that are worth catching anyway.

As far as traffic and time going has anyone taken this drive before? I need to be there at by 7:45 a.m. and not sure what time to leave San Diego. I was thinking 4:30 a.m. Please let me know if you have experience with this drive and how long it usually take.

Traffic at 4:30 won't be too bad. But if you leave after 5 you'll never be there on time. But leaving at 4:30, you'll probably be early, so just find somewhere for a cup of coffee or something. It should take about an hour and a half to get to Fullerton at 4:30 am, if you wait until 5, it may take 2 1/2 to 3 hours!

Traffic after five is insane! And, as a result, it will take much longer to get there.

Mission Bay Park is the largest man-made aquatic park in the country, consisting of 4,235 acres, approximately 46% land and 54% water. The park offers a wide range of recreational activities including paths for walking and jogging, and playgrounds for children. It is one of San Diego’s most popular locations to fly a kite, picnic or sail a model yacht. Fire rings make it possible to cook out and stay warm. Mission Bay Park also offers a variety of free opportunities to the public such as professional volleyball and Over-the-Line sporting events. Annual attendance in the park is estimated at 15 million.
